Ceud mìle fàilte*

(* Welcome in Gàidhlig (Scottish Gaelic), literally «a hundred thousand welcomes»)

I am very happy to write my second blog post. I am having dinner at the Tabac Bar in Glasgow. Glasgow is a vibrant and modern city. Compared to Edinburgh I prefer Glasgow in terms of people’s attitudes, city atmosphere and the wicked groove.

As you probably know I am a teacher. Being a teacher in Switzerland means that you have more than ten weeks paid holidays and a decent salary.

I am currently traveling all over Scotland on a two week road trip w/ my wife and children. We arrived on Sunday – Oct. 8th – at EDI airport. After picking up our lovely Volvo XC60 we drove ten miles north to South Queensferry, there we checked in to the Hawkes Inn/Innkeeper’s Lodge. That was a rather good choice – cosy, calm & with a great view (Queensferry Crossing).
